At AlBaqir Academy, the safety of our students is our number one priority, therefore we would like to communicate some bus safety rules to ensure all students taking the bus arrive to and from the Academy safely every day. We kindly ask that you discuss the rules with your child(ren) to ensure their understanding.

  1. The bus driver is in complete charge of the vehicle and students. Students shall follow classroom conduct rules and obey the driver promptly and respectfully.

  2. Bus time is school time, thus school rules apply on the bus.

  3. Passengers are expected to be courteous and respectful to one another. Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. Throwing objects is prohibited.

  4. Bullying will not be tolerated. Students are encouraged to report incidents to the driver after arriving to the destination to avoid distracting the driver while driving.

  5. Students are expected to respect school bus property. Eating and drinking on the bus are prohibited. The bus is expected to be kept clean at all times.

  6. Students are to remain seated at all times until they are given permission to exit. Climbing over seats or switching seats from across the aisle is not allowed. This puts students at risk of getting injured.

  7. If you will be late picking up your child(ren) from the bus or have someone else picking up your child(ren), please notify the Academy in advance so it can be communicated with the bus driver.

    • Parents cannot pick-up other children taking the bus without written consent of that child’s parents. Written consent needs to be provided to AlBaqir Academy so that we are aware of the situation. In emergencies or special circumstances, the Academy must be notified of who will be picking up the child(ren).

    • The bus driver will not release the children from the bus unless he sees the children’s parent. Otherwise, children are to remain seated on the bus.

  8. When picking up your child(ren) from the bus, parents must remain outside of the bus until their children have come off the bus. Please do not enter the bus looking for your child(ren).

  9. If an issue arises regarding the bus or driver, please approach the school directly. Do not take up personal matters with the bus driver.

 10. Students will be assigned seats in the bus.

When the students do not adhere to the rules and behaviour accordingly on the bus, leave their assigned seats, or act inappropriately, they are endangering themselves and their peers as it distracts the bus driver. If we feel the safety of our students is being compromised, bus privileges will be suspended for a week. If this behaviour repeats a second time, then the student will be suspended from riding the bus, and it will be the parents' responsibility to arrange for transportation.

2020-2021 Bus Program:

Students will be picked up from Northgate Mall's parking lot at 7:30 a.m. and brought back by approximately 1:30-1:45 p.m.

According toMinistry regulations, all students in grades 4 and up must be wearing a face mask on the bus, while the Academy mandates younger students to be wearing either a face mask or face shield.
